ABOUT DaySpring
DaySpring is a camp and conference center owned by the Episcopal Diocese of Southwest Florida. Located in Parrish, Florida, DaySpring hosts retreats, conferences, meetings, and events for groups from all around the United States.
With adult-style accommodations for up to 76 people and youth-style accommodations for another 200, DaySpring serves more than 5000 people each year.
DaySpring began in 1979 when the Episcopal Church in Southwest Florida bought a 77-acre farm along the Manatee River for a retreat and conference center. The site was chosen for its quiet riverside setting and accessibility to parishes across the diocese. The name DaySpring came from the first leaders who chose a biblical reference to represent renewal and spiritual refreshment.
In 1982, the first permanent building was started, and Curry Hall, along with six cottages, opened in 1983. Funds came from donations within the Diocese and early supporters. A formal dedication took place in 1984. As the center grew, Pavilion A was added in 1986 to expand meeting space.
A chapel was added in 1988 when an older church building from Safety Harbor was moved to the property and rededicated as St. Thomas Chapel. In 1990, the Bishop Haynes Lodge was built with lodging and meeting rooms. Over time, more cabins and features such as nature trails and outdoor program areas were developed.
In the early 2010s, the diocesan offices moved onto the DaySpring campus, which strengthened its role as a center for church life in the region. A long-term master plan approved in 2015 led to new facilities for programs and a pool area, and upgrades of existing spaces. Today DaySpring remains a place for camp programs, retreats, gatherings, and training for a wide range of groups from around Florida and beyond.
